| Today the Exoplanet Naming Society has been created! Extrasolar Planets usually have the name of their host star, with a lowercase letter after it, starting with b for the first planet found in the system (51 Pegasi b). The next planet found in the system is labeled with the next letter of the alphabet (Gliese 876 c). The problem with this system is that most stars have weird letter and numbers combinations as names, who is going to say "The planet OGLE-2005-BLG-390Lb is pretty cool!"? The International Astronomical Union (The official "Naming Society") is not planning on naming Extrasolar Planets with the names they deserve, because "it is impractical". Yes, it is impossible to name more than 300 planets in 1 day. But if we work together we can do it! That is why we created this Society! There is currently only 3 Extrasolar Planets with "friendly" names, but they are not official, Osiris (HD 209458 b), Bellerophon (51 Pegasi b) and Methuselah (PSR B1620-26 b). They were not created by the Exoplanet Naming Society. We will start with notable and famous Extrasolar Planets, and if we finish naming them, we can move on to the rest of the Extrasolar Planets! This Society is not official, but if it becomes popular, people will start to use the unofficial names frequently. Create an account, read the exoplanet naming guidelines, and name those planets!

| Unfortunately, some of the planet-hunters themselves do not conform to the "system" of naming exoplanets. I refer to the simple space after the star index. Some of them still publish official scientific papers without the space between the star-name and the planet index. An example would be OGLE-2005-BLG-390Lb (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OGLE-2005-BLG-390Lb). It should be actually be "OGLE-2005-BLG-390L b". I know its quite petty, but if we do not act soon, it will become a messy effort cataloging exoplanets (as what i have experienced). To begin with, I hope this forum helps bring this issue to their attention. | |

| NEW YORK (Reuters) – Wal-Mart Stores Inc is in advanced talks withNew York's construction unions to get their backing for its entry intoNew York City's retail market, The Wall Street Journal reported onSunday. The retailer's talks with the Building and Construction Trades Councilof Greater New York could lead to Wal-Mart using union labor to buildits first New York stores, even though it would use nonunion workers tostaff the stores, the Journal said. Wal-Mart has been courting the building trades, pledging to use unionlabor for any new construction, among other concessions, the Journalsaid, citing multiple people familiar with discussions. "Wal-Mart and the building trades have discussed our common interest instimulating local economic development in the city," spokesman StevenRestivo said in a statement e-mailed to Reuters. "We do not have anagreement, but look forward to a continued dialogue." The Trades Council, in Albany, New York, was not immediately available outside ordinary business hours. Wal-Mart has no stores in New York City, while rival discounter TargetCorp penetrated the Manhattan market with a store in Harlem earlierthis year after 13 years of trying to open the site. Wal-Mart has said bringing more stores to urban markets is one of its priorities. (Reporting by Nick Zieminski, editing by Maureen Bavdek and Diane Craft)

| The State Department said Tuesday the post of U.S. envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan will be continued following the death of the job's first occupant, Richard Holbrooke. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hailed Holbrooke as an indispensable colleague.
Obama administration officials describe Holbrooke, a 40-year diplomatic veteran, as virtually irreplaceable. They say the structure he built, though, as the first U.S. envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan will remain in place, and that the post he pioneered two years ago will remain.
Holbrooke's deputy, senior diplomat Frank Ruggiero, has assumed the late envoy's duties on an acting basis, and took his place Tuesday at key White House meetings capping the Obama administration's soon-to-be-completed Afghan policy review.
A senior State Department official told reporters a replacement for Holbrooke will named in due course, and that Ruggiero, a former senior official in the department's bureau of political-military affairs, cannot be excluded as a possible successor.
Tributes to Holbrooke continue to flow in from U.S. political figures and officials around the world. President Barack Obama called him a "unique figure" and a "true giant of American foreign policy."
In her first public remarks Tuesday on Holbrooke's death, Clinton called him a valued friend, a trusted mentor and an indispensable colleague to generations of U.S. diplomats.
"It has been remarkable to see the tributes coming in from around the world," said Clinton. "The word that keeps being said over and over again is 'statesman.' It's a word that we don't use much anymore. But Richard embodied it. A man who loved our country and dedicated his life to serving not only our people, but the cause of peace, a diplomat who used every tool in the toolbox and someone who accomplished so much on behalf of so many."
Holbrooke suffered a ruptured aorta during a meeting with Clinton last Friday and died late Monday at a hospital a few blocks from the State Department.
The Washington Post reported Tuesday that Holbrooke's last words, to doctors preparing him for surgery late Friday, were that "you've got to stop this war in Afghanistan."
State Department Spokesman P.J. Crowley addressed the issue at a news briefing, saying Holbrooke's comments were part of a light-hearted exchange with doctors attending him as opposed to criticism of U.S. war policy.
"At one point, the medical team said you've got to relax," said Crowley. "And Richard said: 'I can't relax, I'm worried about Afghanistan and Pakistan.' And then after some additional exchanges, the medical team finally said: 'We'll try to fix this challenge while you're undergoing surgery.' And he [Holbrooke] said: 'Yeah. See if you can take care of that, including ending the war.'"
Crowley said his version of the exchange was reconstructed from accounts of several people present at Holbrooke's bedside, and reflected the late envoy's "singular focus" on bringing U.S. efforts in the region to a successful conclusion.

| WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been granted bail by a British court but will remain behind bars Tuesday as Sweden's lawyer appeals the judge's decision.
Judge Howard Riddle earlier had set bail for a total of $380,000 (240,000 British Pounds) to allow Assange to walk out of prison.
The Swedish appeal to the bail means Assange will have to wait at least another 48 hours before he can be freed, pending the outcome of the appeal.

| Assange said in the statement that his current circumstances have done nothing to shake his conviction that he was correct in releasing the hundreds of thousands of secret U.S. diplomatic cables and other classified documents that were leaked to his website.
Assange also criticized the financial firms PayPal, MasterCard and Visa that had withdrawn their services from his website, accusing them of being "instruments of U.S. foreign policy." He called on his global supporters to protect his work.
The publication of the secret cables have roiled U.S. diplomatic circles. Previous WikiLeaks releases on the Iraq and Afghanistan war were severely criticized by the Pentagon as putting peoples' lives at risk. The U.S. Justice Department is investigating the leaks.
The Australian surrendered to British authorities last week after Sweden issued an international arrest warrant.

| The U.S.-brokered Dayton Peace Accords were signed 15 years ago, bringing together Serbian, Bosnian and Croat leaders. Bosnian politicians agree that the accords were successful in bringing peace and stability to the Balkans. But otherwise, many say, the region is divided.
Former Bosnian President Haris Silajdzic was part of the delegation at Dayton in the U.S. Midwestern state of Ohio. He said that by giving the Bosnian Serbs their own autonomous region known as Republika Srpska as part of the agreement, the ethnic cleansing of Bosnia is being perpetuated

| At the United World College in the city of Mostar, however, scene of some of the fiercest fighting during the war, things are different. Bosnian Muslim, Serb and Croat students mingle inside and outside the classroom, where they study together.
Students of each ethnic group are optimistic about Bosnia's future.
"I think the situation will change, maybe in this generation," said one female student. "We are the new generation that should definitely lead into something more bright," replied a male student. Another male student opined, "It's a process and it's going to take a while."

| Kim Sung-hwan on Tuesday said there are intelligence reports about this but he would not go into specifics.
The foreign minister says he suspects that what experts have said about North Korea having other enrichment sites is correct.
A U.S. scientist was shown one complex at Yongbyon last month. Stanford University professor Siegfried Hecker proclaimed the operation surprisingly sophisticated, apparently with hundreds of working centrifuges to enrich uranium.

| Analysts say the communist state has repeatedly provided glimpses of its efforts to make nuclear weapons, partly to prod other countries into negotiations to extract badly needed aid for its impoverished economy.
But talks that began in 2003 to persuade Pyongyang to give up its nuclear programs in return for aid and greater diplomatic recognition have stalled for two years. The Koreas, China, Japan, Russia and the United States are involved in the talks.

| Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told journalists Tuesday that the firing of Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki Monday will not affect the country's foreign policy, or positions over its nuclear program.
The sacking of Foreign Minister Mottaqi Monday was the source of more questions than answers Tuesday as journalists eagerly quizzed spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast.

| Several conservative newspapers criticized the firing of Mottaki, and the outspoken editor of the hardline Kayhan daily called it an "open insult." The former foreign minister was on a trip to Africa when the announcement was made that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had replaced him.
Former Iranian President Abolhassan Bani Sadr calls the firing "scandalous," but points out that Mr. Ahmadinejad is trying to tell the world that he along with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei are "in charge" of Iran's foreign policy.
